Kaizer Chiefs starlet Happy Mashiane has urged his teammates to stay grounded despite their recent upturn in fortunes.
While Samir Nurkovic is largely credit for Kaizer Chiefs’ turnaround in fortunes, Mashiane himself has been a pivotal part of Amakhosi’s impressive run that saw them claim three consecutive wins in the DStv Premiership for the first time this season.
In his last three games, the 23-year-old has been in inspirational form for the Soweto giants and has chipped in with two goals, while further providing one assist.

Despite his team’s upturn in fortunes that has seen them move up to seventh in the DStv Premiership standings, Mashiane, who has been heavily used by Gavin Hunt, says things are not rosy for himself or his team just yet.
“I have to thank the technical team for pushing me,” he told Kaizer Chiefs’ official website.
“I am not saying things are rosy now for me or the team, but credit should be given to them for pushing me in terms of me being back and playing.
“These recent wins are a great motivation for us. Knowing very well that we did not start the season on a high, things were not going our way in terms of getting the right results,” he explained.
Mashiane and his teammates will be hoping to make it four wins in four matches when they take on an unpredictable Stellenbosch FC at the Danie Craven Stadium on Sunday.
“Knowing very well that we are playing Stellenbosch on Saturday, it will not be an easy game. They are a playing team. They will be motivated to do well after their last result and so will we – which will make for a good game.”
“We are playing away from home and we have to go there and grind out the result,” he adds. “We have to come back with maximum points. They have good speedy players, and we are aware of that. Whatever they bring at us, we will be ready,” he said.
