The week just gets better for Ernst Middendorp after he landed another award following last night’s impressive Kaizer Chiefs victory over Stellenbosch FC.
Chiefs annihilated Stellies with an emphatic 4-0 victory at Cape Town Stadium on Wednesday evening, and today (Thursday) it has been confirmed that he has been named Coach of the Month for September and October.
The Glamour Boys have fired their way to the top of the Absa Premiership table and are 10 points clear after their win in the Western Cape, but it was their results over the last two months – four wins and only one defeat – that has seen the German land the award for the second time in a row.
Amakhosi beat AmaZulu, Baroka, Golden Arrows and Mamelodi Sundowns after their defeat to Polokwane City at the start of September, picking up 12 points from five games – three more than the second most productive team in that period (Highlands Park, 9).
Chiefs now have a bit of a wait before returning to action against Bloemfontein Celtic on December 7, and having scored nine goals in three league games in November, Middendorp could well be in the running once again when the next round of awards come up.
