Hleza Mofedi – one of the top talents in the famous Pirates team under Kostadin Papic between 2004 and 2006 – rates Mahlasela highly from his spell with Bloemfontein Celtic.
With the attacking midfielder, who is in the last few weeks of his loan deal at Polokwane City and expected to hear from Chiefs regarding his future, Mofedi is hoping that Pirates make a move for the 29-year-old in preparation for next season.
“I think he is the kind of a player that would suit the style of Pirates. In fact, my wish if that he could go and play for Pirates. I wish Pirates can sign him as his style could suit the system of the team,” Mofedi told the Siya crew.
Mahlasela’s contract with Amakhosi is set to expire at the end of the current season, though the Soweto giants do have a one-year option in place on the midfielder’s deal.
“All that it takes is hard work more than anything. If he (Mahlasela) can go there (to Pirates) and work hard alongside the experienced Pirates players in the team he would get used to how they play and do well. Pirates is a team that plays entertaining brand of football and I have been impressed with a lot players – almost everyone from the team this season,” Mofedi added.
