CAF Spot Could Secure Chiefs Job?

A former Kaizer Chiefs defender believes qualifying for a CAF competition could go a long way in securing Arthur Zwane the head coaching job at Naturena.

With two matches to play in the DStv Premiership this season, Amakhosi are in fourth place and would need to win their remaining games and hope results elsewhere go their way, to at least finish third on the standings.

A third place finish would guarantee a place in the CAF Confederation Cup next season, a competition which their Soweto rivals Orlando Pirates currently have a shot at winning.

Chiefs will take on Sekhukhune United on Saturday and Swallows FC on the final weekend of the league season, knowing that six points would give them a chance of qualifying, if third-placed Royal AM drop points.

"Yes, it is important to try to qualify for CAF, because Kaizer Chiefs is a big brand and, as you know, the team has not won any silverware this season. It will be a big boost for the team for next season to start the league on a positive note," Mabotsa told the Siya crew.

Amakhosi's performance in the clash against Mamelodi Sundowns in their last match will give them good reason to believe that they can finish the campaign on a positive note. Chiefs held Sundowns to a 1-1 draw and could have won the match, had Keagan Dolly's spot kick not been saved by Reyaad Pieterse.

Zwane will be hoping his boys can get the job done, starting with Sekhukhune this weekend.

Gordon Igesund reveals his thoughts on the dreaded relegation battles and the tension that goes along with it.
