TBT: When Pitso’s Boys Thrashed Al Ahly For Five

Mamelodi Sundowns face the mammoth task of overturning a 2-0 first leg deficit against Egyptian giants Al Ahly, therefore we throw it back to Sundowns’ 5-0 thrashing of the eight-time CAF Champions League winners.

The Lucas Masterpieces Moripe stadium was packed to capacity as the two giants of African football locked horns.

Pitso Mosimane’s men were in the mood early on and Tebogo Langerman sped down the left flank before expertly picking out Themba Zwane, who slotted home on 14 minutes.

Sundowns were not quite done yet as Uruguayan, Gaston Sirino's free-kick found its way to Wayne Arendse, who tapped home from close range.

It was more of the same in the second half as the Brazilians got off to a lively start and were awarded a penalty in the opening minute, which Ricardo Nascimento calmly converted.

Gaston Sirino who was in sensational form, calmly beat Mohamed-Shenawy to make it four after yet another assist from Langerman.

Phakamani Mahlambi placed the final nail in the coffin as Sundowns subjected Al Ahly to their biggest defeat ever.

Mosimane and the Masandawana faithful will be looking to draw inspiration from this win as they take on Al Ahly on Saturday.

Do you think Sundowns can overturn their first leg deficit?
