A few seasons ago Kaizer Chiefs signed Zambian striker Lewis Macha with the hope that he would have a similar impact to what Samir Nurkovic currently has, however he turned out to be one of the flops of the century, although he did return to haunt them.
Sometimes you strike gold, as in the case of Nurkovic and sometimes you don’t.
Macha was a prime example of that.
Macha spent two dismal seasons in Mzansi, with a mere two goals during his Absa Premiership stay.
The 28-year-old was a bit of a journeyman before touching down in Mzansi, where Chiefs hoped he would settle and unveiled him alongside eight other players including Ramahlwe Mphahlele and Keagan Buchanan under the tutelage of Steve Komphela.
Macha failed to score a single goal for Amakhosi and was soon on his way. Baroka was his next destination where he found the back of the net twice, ironically one of his goals coming against Amakhosi.
A stint with Royal Eagles in the GladAfrica Championship followed, but that only lasted a few months, before he returned to Zambia with Zesco United.
Do you think Macha was one of Amakhosi’s biggest flops?
