A Goal For All Africa – Shabba's Nostalgic Trip Down WC Memory Lane

On this day in 2010, Siphiwe Tshabalala etched his name into world football folklore after scoring the opening goal at the historic 2010 FIFA World Cup, and the man himself recently took a nostalgic trip down memory lane. Check it out!

As the country got ready to host a spectacle as big as the World Cup, South African football lovers were buzzing at the thought of seeing some of their favourite stars grace the fields of Mzansi.

However, when "Shabba" scored the first World Cup goal on African soil, the euphoria levels went into overdrive and, to this day, many still cherish the former Kaizer Chiefs star's stunning effort.

That being said, the attacking midfielder has been reliving the moment through his social media channels as fans continue laud the local football icon.

Speaking about the goal, the winger wrote on Instagram: "The organisation, patience, timing, team shape, intercept, quick passes, the world class assist, the perfect finish and the celebration. 11:06:2010 The world remembers #shabbaday."

Shabba also posted an image of the Bafana Bafana stars who made the WC squad, and it was a star-studded team that included the likes of Steven Pienaar, Teko Modise, Itumeleng Khune and Bongani Khumalo.
