Abraw, Mathoho Send Chiefs Into TKO Final Four

Telkom Knockout

Result: Mpumalanga Black Aces 1-2 Kaizer Chiefs

Date: 24 October 2015

Venue: Mbombela United

Kaizer Chiefs secured their spot in the Telkom Knockout semi-finals, after they recorded a 2-1 win over Mpumalanga Black Aces at the Mbombela Stadium.

Chiefs broke the deadlock after just two minutes, as the ball fell for Camaldine Abraw on the edge of the box and the striker rifled home a powerful into the top corner.

Aces nearly hit back in the 15th minute when Lebogang Manyama teed up Collins Mbesuma, who rattled the crossbar from 12-yards out.

The home side created another opening two minutes later when Tshidiso Tukane picked out Manyama, who could only direct his header wide of the upright.

However, it was Chiefs who extended their lead in the 23rd minute when Erick Mathoho rose highest to head home Siphiwe Tshabalala's corner.

Aces squandered another chance in the 40th minute when Tukane combined well with Mbesuma, before firing horribly wide of the target from close range.

However, Steve Komphela's side went into the break deserved leaders, having got off to a blistering start to the game.

Chiefs nearly added a third goal in the 53rd minute as Abraw's left-footed volley from 20-yards out sailed inches wide of the upright.

Siboniso Gaxa should have extended Chiefs' lead three minutes later but the defender scooped his effort over the crossbar from 12-yards out, after being teed up by Edward Manqele.

Abraw could have grabbed his second and Chiefs' third in the 66th minute when Mathoho did well to pick out the striker, who's first-time effort sailed inches wide of the upright.

Aces eventually reduced the deficit in the 79th minute as Sibusiso Masina turned home Nonyane's cross from the left flank to set up a nervous final few moments.

However, Komphela's charges managed to see out a very nervous final 10 minutes to clinch the win and secure their passage into the semi-finals.

Here's how they lined up:

Mpumalanga Black Aces: Mabokgwane, Mzava, Hendricks, Ngalo, Nonyane, Tukane, Khuboni, Matsi, Moseamedi, Manyama, Mbesuma.

Kaizer Chiefs: Khune, Gaxa, Mathoho, Bukenya, Masilela, Baloyi, Letsholonyane, Tshabalala, Lebese, Abraw, Manqele
