Shai, Lentjies Send Maritzburg Into Last Eight

Goals from Siyabulela Shai and Kurt Lentjies handed Maritzburg United a 2-1 win over Jomo Cosmos in their Telkom Knockout Last 16 clash.
The opening half an hour proved to be a cagey affair, as both sides were often wasteful with their possession and struggled to create openings in the respective final thirds.
Frederic Nsabiyumva came to Cosmos' rescue in the 33rd minute when popped up with goal-saving block to deny Mohammed Anas a strike at goal from six-yards out.
Maritzburg broke the deadlock just before the halftime break as Shai collected the ball 30-yards from goal, before rifling the ball into the top corner.
It went from bad to worst for Cosmos on the stroke of halftime when Sithole was shown a straight for a dangerous challenge on Shai.
Salie was called into action five minutes into the second half, as he did well to tip Charlton Mashumba's long range effort overt the crossbar.
The hosts were presented with a chance to double the lead in the 55th minute when thy were awarded penalty, which Kurt Lentjies calmly converted.
Sherwin Naicker came to Cosmos' rescue in the 72nd minute, as he came rushing off his line to deny Anas, who had been played in by a delightful flick by Shai.
Despite being a man down, Jomo Sono's men reduced the deficit in the 75th minute when Cheslin Jampies' in-swinging set-piece evaded everybody and sailed into the far corner.
The visitors continued to push for an equaliser in the closing stages of the half but Clive Barker's charges managed to hold out for the win and secure progression to the last eight.
This was also Maritzburg's first win in all competitions this season, while Cosmos are yet to register a win this campaign.
