SuperSport Sink Pirates To Secure TKO Final Spot

Telkom Knockout Semi-Final
Result: Orlando Pirates 0-2 SuperSport United
Date: 08 November 2014
Venue: Orlando Stadium
SuperSport United booked their spot in the final of the Telkom Knockout with a 2-0 win over Orlando Pirates at the Orlando Stadium.
After a slow start to the game, the first chance of the game fell to Pirates in the 18th minute, as Sifiso Myeni played in Tlou Segolela, who placed his effort wide on the target.
However, it was SuperSport who took the lead two minutes later, as Lebogang Manyama pounced on a loose ball in the six-yard box to fire into the roof of the net.
Clayton Daniels should have doubled SuperSport's lead in the 26th minute but the defender steered his header wide of the mark after being picked out by Michael Morton.
SuperSport continued to see more of the ball after taking the lead and eventually doubled their lead in the 35th minute with Thuso Phala teeing up Dove Wome, who made no mistake from three yards out.
Pirates, meanwhile, almost reduced the deficit just before the halftime break, as Khethokwakhe Masuku's curling effort was denied by the crossbar, after Ronwen Williams had saved Myeni's close range effort.
The first meaningful opening of the second half arrived in the 74th minute, as Brighton Mhlongo pulled off a fine save to deny Manyama from close range.
Manyama had another chance to add a third in the 88th minute, the winger did well to beat his marker before dragging his effort inches wide of the upright.
Pirates did mount an effort on target in the closing stages of the game but Gordon Igesund's held on to secure their spot in the final.
Here's how they lined up:
Orlando Pirates: Mhlongo, Jele, Mahamutsa, Sangweni, Phungwayo, Ntshumayelo, Manyisa, Segolela, Myeni, Masuku, Majoro
SuperSport United: Williams, Moloi, Khumalo, Daniels, Mokeke, Phala, Wome, Morton, Manyama, Mathebula, September
