Arrows In Hard-Fought TKO Win Over Ajax

Telkom Knockout - Last 16
Result: Golden Arrows 1-0 Ajax Cape Town
Date: 3 October 2015
Venue: King Zwelithini Stadium
Golden Arrows booked their place in the Telkom Knockout quarterfinals with a 1-0 victory over Ajax Cape Town on Saturday.
Abafana Bes'thende had a great chance early in the clash as Kuda Mahachi found himself in a position to strike in the third minute, but his attempt went over the bar.
Mahachi was in the thick of things again in the 23rd minute when Deon Hotto did well to create the chance for his team-mate, but Anssi Jaakkola made a fine save.
At the other end of the pitch the Urban Warriors threatened to open the scoring as Riyaad Norodien provided the cross for Erwin Isaacs to pounce on. However, Maximilian Mbaevu kept it out with a one-handed save.
Jaakkola was under fire again just before the break as Hotto was one-on-one with the keeper after Andile Fikozolo put him through, but he made another top stop.
Ajax came agonisingly close to taking the lead in the 51st minute. Niviwe Mdabuka's shot rattled the Arrows crossbar before Norodien's follow-up shot went wide of the target.
The breakthrough arrived in the 72nd minute as the hosts hit the front. Fikozolo provided a decisive assist in the build-up to allow Gladwin Shitolo to finish.
Disaster struck for the visitors four minutes later as Jaakkola was sent off with a straight red card for bringing down Mahachi, who would have been through on goal for Arrows.
Here's how they lined up:
Arrows: Mbaeva, Mathiane, Mngwengwe, Sikhakhane, Shitolo, N. Cele, Mahachi, Fikozolo, Hotto, Khenyeza, Mokheti
Ajax: Jaakkola, Mabaso, Mobara, Coetzee, Lebusa, Mdabuka, Mzwakali, Graham, Isaacs, Norodien, Lolo
