History is on the verge of being made this weekend at the Nelson Mandela Bay stadium as Baroka FC march closer to winning the Telkom Knockout title. However, standing in their way is Orlando Pirates who with much cup experience go into the game as favourites, especially with the club’s recent form in the league but on the other hand, cup matches are a different ball game altogether.
Speaking to Soccer Laduma in issue 1102, the Buccaneers’ darling Vincent Pule chats about the upcoming fixture and how they are planning to walk away with a victory.
“We have our plans and I think that Baroka are a very good team. I think defensively they are very good and, going into the final, they are going to come in with that mentality of wanting to win because it is their first cup final and they want to make history.
“So we have to do what we do best and by doing that we can overcome them on the day. We know what is on offer and we want to do our best. It’s not going to be easy, but we are prepared to fight on the field.”
Pule also spoke out about his personal form that has grabbed the attention of many since his appointment at the Houghton-based side.
“For me, hard work is starting to pay off. I think what has also helped me is that some of the players I played with before at Bidvest Wits and in the national team are here. I think, as a player, you just have to work hard and everything will fall into place.”
