Baroka On The Verge Of Making History…

While all the attention might be on the Soweto Derby in the Telkom Knockout semi-finals this weekend, it would be no surprise if Sunday’s encounter stirs up much more entertainment on the field where first-timers Baroka FC take on Bidvest Wits at the Peter Mokaba stadium.

Bakgaga will be featuring in their first semi-final in a cup competition, while the Clever Boys are defending champions and will be looking to step closer to retaining their title.

Soccer Laduma caught up with the key players from both camps as they previewed their upcoming match:

Letladi Madubanya – Baroka FC midfielder & captain

“We have our work cut out for us! But it’s one that we are excited about and hopefully, the supporters come out to show their support. We are going out there to give more than 100% and it would be nice to do that in front of a packed stadium.”

Thabang Monare – Bidvest Wits central midfielder

“I believe that we have the players that can stop them in their tracks. I feel that if we have control over that, then we will be good. We do feel a bit of pressure to hold onto our title, but any football game comes with pressure. We just have to maintain that pressure and take (it) one game at a time.”
