Kaizer Chiefs coach, Steve Komphela, is wary of the threat posed by Muhsin Ertugral’s Mpumalanga Black Aces.
Chiefs will be hoping to put their stuttering league form, in which they have drawn five of their opening seven games, to one side when they switch their focus to the Telkom Knockout.
The Amakhosi have been drawn to face high flying Aces in the quarterfinals of the competition and Komphela believes Ertugral’s side will be looking forward to the occasion and the prospect of facing Chiefs.
“It will be a big occasion for Aces and they will bring their A-game. We will prepare and go out to perform,” Komphela told Soccer Laduma.
“Aces are playing good football under Muhsin Ertugral. We are happy with the draw and we will go out there and do the right thing.
“If there are people who are more excited about playing in a cup game, it’s the players. They know that a cup game is a sprint, while the league is a marathon.
“They know that it takes very few games to lift a trophy and that pushes them more to achieve that glory.”
What are your predictions for the game? Do you think Chiefs will live up to their tag of South Africa’s cup specialists?
