Mamelodi Sundowns head coach, Pitso Mosimane maintains that despite the CAF Champions League and Absa Premiership being more important than any other competition, winning any game will always be a priority.
The Brazilians will lock horns with AmaZulu FC in the last 16 round of the Telkom Knockout Cup competition, with Mosimane’s side once again in with a busy schedule as they look to compete on all fronts.
“Telkom, (is) always a priority for us to win, for a few reasons, for our supporters, to create confidence in the club and to win one of the cup trophies, we run a very ambitious and sophisticated program, more than any other team,” Mosimane told the media at the TKO press conference.
“Our problem is influenced by how ambitious our team is. I am working for a very ambitious club, I can hear Rulani (Mokwena) talking about the heat that is needed to cut gold and diamonds, he is right, we are going through that, sleepless nights, he knows, when he came from the U19 he was waking up at 3am.
“In football, it is not about working smart, it is about working hard, you want to be a head coach of a PSL team, your social life is zero and you lose friends and family members and you look like you are selfish.
“My problem is not the same as any other teams, it is a difficult program with more heat, we are expected to win the Champions League and we are expected to win the league.
“The AmaZulu game is a big game, we are expected to win it, the Telkom Cup is a cup that comes within the Champions League and Absa Premiership and the problem is complex for us because we have games in hand,” he added.
