Orlando Pirates’ head coach, Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic, has asked that Baroka should be respected because they have reached the final of the Telkom Knockout on merit.
Baroka have surprised many in the local football fraternity during this year’s TKO with beating some of the PSL’s top teams on their way to reaching the final.
The Limpopo outfit will face Pirates in the final of the prestigious competition at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Saturday, after beating Golden Arrows, Mamelodi Sundowns and Bidvest Wits along the way of their impressive run.
Speaking to the media recently, during the build-up to the eagerly-awaited clash scheduled for the Eastern Cape, Sredojevic spoke about his respect for Wedson Nyirenda’s team.
“When someone talks about Baroka like a team that is beatable, I want to respect the opinion, but in the same moment all of us need to give an absolute respect to them having in mind that when you do once, it’s (an) accident, but they have reached the finals beating two top teams, Mamelodi Sundowns and Bidvest Wits, and when you have that in mind what is guaranteed to us that we can beat them,” Sredojevic told the media last week.
Vincent Pule and Thembinkosi Lorch scored Bucs’ two goals when the Soweto giants beat Bakgaga 2-1, with Onkabetse Makgantai scoring the one goal for the home side during their Absa Premiership match played at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in September.
