The Buccaneers and the Amakhosi have already met once this season, a game that resulted in a 2-1 victory for Pirates in the Absa Premiership, but this time there is even more pressure on due to the fact that it’s a knockout game.
Milutin Sredojevic has almost a clean bill of health going into the crucial encounter, although there are a handful of doubts that he’s waiting to hear about.
Speaking to the media yesterday, Micho gave an update on Innocent Maela and Vincent Pule, saying, “Both of them will have to pass a fitness test in order to prove that they are ready because a match of this magnitude and importance demands every single player to be 200 per cent ready.
“Friday’s last training session will tell us what to do, but we strongly hope that the scorer of the winning goal in the last match against Chiefs (Pule) will be part of the team on Saturday.
“We shall know when we have that late fitness test what is happening.”
Meanwhile, the coach also mentioned that there were question marks over the fitness of Augustine Mulenga for the game, with the Zambian international also set to undergo tests before the club jet out to Durban this evening.
Chiefs and Pirates will lock horns tomorrow afternoon as the two sides look to take another step closer to ending their lengthy trophy droughts.
