Mpumalanga Black Aces coach Muhsin Ertugral and Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela, who were once coach and assistant at Kaizer Chiefs, will meet face-to-face in the Telkom Knockout quarter-finals.
The Turkish-born coach says that history won’t count for anything in their encounter as they will put their friendship aside for 90 minutes to get the job done.
Ertugral told the Siya crew that Chiefs have a history of winning cups and it is always difficult to play them in knockout tournaments, but they will prepare well due to the fact that they face them twice in quick succession.
“We will play them twice in a short space of time and it’s not easy. Yes I know Chiefs and I know that they are cup specialists but in this game history won’t work,” he said.
“I will be happy to face Steve and I know he will also be happy to face me but we will put our friendship aside and do work for our teams.
“It’s a cup game and it’s once off. We have to win and stand a chance to win the trophy as well,” the former Ajax Cape Town coach concluded.
