Third Attempt After 12 Years For Micho In TKO

Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic is currently facing his third attempt at the Telkom Knockout in the role of Orlando Pirates coach, after 12 years.

During his first stint as Bucs’ head coach which lasted from June 2006 to January 2007, Sredojevic saw the side knocked out of the prestigious competition by Santos in the quarter-finals.

The 1-0 loss to the Mother City-based former PSL side was at Ellis Park Stadium in Johannesburg on November 2006.

The Serbian coach was to later leave the Soweto giants in January of the following year, following some disappointing results by the team under his tutelage at the time.

On his return to Pirates last year, when he was appointed as the team’s head coach after leaving his coaching position in the Uganda senior national team, the Serbian mentor oversaw two of Bucs’ matches in the TKO as they lost to Polokwane City in the quarter-finals 4-2 on penalties, after their campaign had started with a 1-0 win over Golden Arrows in the Last 16 stage of the competition.

With Bucs finalising their preparations for their TKO semi-final match against Kaizer Chiefs in this upcoming weekend’s Soweto Derby, Sredojevic will hope to leave no stone unturned in planning to defeat their perennial rivals for a chance to advance to the final and have a shot at his first trophy for the club.

Sredojevic has already led Bucs to a win against Chiefs this season, when his side won 2-1 in their Absa Premiership clash at the FNB Stadium on October 27.

How do you think Micho will do in third TKO attempt Bucs’ coach?
