Fired-Up Castro On Why Chiefs Must Beat Pirates…

Kaizer Chiefs’ Leonardo Castro says that every trophy is important for the Amakhosi as they prepare for another battle with Orlando Pirates over the weekend.

The Colombian forward started the last Soweto Derby as Chiefs were beaten 2-1 by the Buccaneers in the Absa Premiership, coming off after 73 minutes as his side were unable to force their way back.

Having played in two derbies prior to this weekend’s crucial Telkom Knockout semifinal, Castro is eager to make sure that this time it is the gold and black side of Soweto that comes away with bragging rights and a spot in the final.

He told the club’s official website, “It’s special to play Orlando Pirates in the semi-final of the Telkom Knockout… It promises to be an interesting match and we have to take it, as we want to go through. Every trophy is important.

“We made a few mistakes. We didn’t really play good football on the day. However, we have since worked hard on fixing those mistakes and we are positive to get a result on Saturday.

“We don’t want to miss out on an opportunity to reach a cup final, although we will take it step-by-step.”

Unlike most other Soweto Derby games, this encounter will be played out in front of a sold-out Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban, and Castro is looking forward to the occasion.

He went on to say, “It’s great that we have taken this game to Durban. It’s already sold out, which means that there will be a fantastic atmosphere at Moses Mabhida Stadium. We love our supporters in KZN. We just need to take our talent onto the field and go out and play.”
