Igesund Delighted With 'Team Performance'
SuperSport United head coach, Gordon Igesund, was proud of his side after they booked their spot in the final of the Telkom Knockout.
Goals from Lebogang Manyama and Dove Wome secured a 2-0 win over Orlando Pirates at the Orlando Stadium and the former Bafana Bafana coach was pleased with his side's performance.
"I thought in the first half we really good, I know we scored three goals and one was disallowed but I would bet my reputation on that was a fair goal, the way I saw it," said Igesund after the game.
"But at the end of the day he didn't allow it, and 2-0 is a dangerous score, second half we allowed them to have the ball in certain areas, I wasn't happy that we pushed back so much, but it's a semi-final, we in the final now, I got to give my guys a lot of credit they played really well tonight, especially the first half, we took full control of the game but we always looked like we were going to win it and I'm very pleased."
Igesund also heaped praise on a few individuals, most notably defender, Thabo September.
"Wome was outstanding upfront, David Mathebula playing as a false 9, getting in behind them, Manyama and Thuso Phala were outstanding and then of course I got to mention Thabo September at the back, who has been out for almost six months, he was outstanding with Clayton Daniels, Micheal Morton did a fantastic job, you can't single out one player, it was a great team effort tonight." he added.
