Igesund Hails Williams' Penalty Save
SuperSport United coach, Gordon Igesund, has heaped praise on goalkeeper Ronwen Williams, following their 3-2 win over Platinum Stars.
SuperSport clinched their first trophy since 2012 after defeating Dikwena in the Telkom Knockout final and the former Bafana Bafana boss believes saves like Williams' are the difference in these type of games.
"It was a fantastic game, it was really a cup game, a lot of goals involved, when we went 2-1 up, we fell asleep and they made it 2-2 and straight after that they could have gone 3-2 up," Igesund after the game.
"They had penalties before and we watched them very carefully and sometimes that's the difference between winning and losing a competition like this, he (Williams) made a magnificent save, and said, Ronwen if they get a penalty or if it goes to penalties, I will give you the signal, I don't care if you go the wrong way and he did that obviously he made a fantastic save.
"I want to really say thank you to Allan Frees, it was a fantastic save and thanks for giving us a game like this, a lot of people thought the two unfashionable teams, this could not have been a more exciting for the people."
