With cup preparations underway for defending Telkom Knockout champions Baroka FC, news has surfaced that the Limpopo club could be at risk of losing the services of head coach Wedson Nyirenda.
According to media reports, Nyirenda has been earmarked for a national team role with Zambia – a position previously held by the former Kaizer Chiefs striker.
However, the coach and the Limpopo outfit are not seemingly not distracted by the reports, according to sources, as the focus remains on attempting to defend their TKO cup.
“Baroka is preparing as per normal under coach Nyirenda for the upcoming Telkom Knockout match. That’s where the team’s focus is at,” said the source.
Bakgaga are scheduled to begin their TKO campaign on Saturday with a trip to the Lucas Moripe Stadium for the match against recently crowned MTN8 champions SuperSport United.
Following their emphatic victory over Orlando Pirates in last year’s TKO, Bakgaga will aim for another impressive run in the competition this year.
