Kaizer Chiefs will be hoping to see a key man back in action this weekend in the Telkom Knockout after one of their most recent additions was forced to miss the last two games…
Samir Nurkovic has played a major role in the Amakhosi’s march to the top of the Absa Premiership table so far this season, and had been almost ever-present for Ernst Middendorp up until he was struck down by injury.
The Serbian forward last played for Chiefs on September 24 as they picked up a 2-0 victory over AmaZulu, however he had to be taken off in the first half after a clash of heads and hasn’t featured since.
Now, after he was given the international break to get himself back to fitness, fans will be eager to see whether he has managed to put himself back in contention to face Cape Town City on Saturday afternoon as they chase a spot in the next round of the TKO.
Nurkovic didn’t feature in either the Shell Helix Ultra Cup or the Macufe Cup this past weekend as Middendorp experimented with his squad in a couple of friendly encounters, and Leonardo Castro’s hattrick against Mamelodi Sundowns may well have helped him stake a claim for a spot in the XI this coming weekend.

The 27-year-old, who signed for Chiefs at the start of the 2019/20 campaign, will no doubt be itching to get back on the field and add to his goal tally as soon as possible, though it remains to be seen whether he will get that chance against Benni McCarthy’s City or not.
