With Kaizer Chiefs coming to Cape Town City for their match oozing with confidence, as the team has been on an impressive run and having already defeated the Mother City outfit at home in the league this season, goalkeeper Peter Leeuwenburgh says he is not really thinking about the Soweto giants and anything happening with them at this stage.
Leeuwenburgh and his City teammates are set to face Chiefs in their eagerly-awaited Telkom Knockout Last 16 match at Cape Town Stadium on Saturday.
The Dutch shot-stopper, who was in goals when Chiefs beat City 2-1 at Newlands Stadium in August, does admit that Amakhosi are on an impressive run, though he says the focus for Benni McCarthy’s side is on their team and what they can do.
“They (Chiefs) are on a good run and are a team to beat at the moment. I don’t really think about Chiefs at the moment. It’s just focus on ourselves. That’s the only focus at the moment,” said the goalkeeper, speaking to the media this week.
“For me, and I think that’s for the whole team, it’s always nice to play against a team that also wants to attack and have the ball, and not just sit back and try to defend. That suits us and hopefully it’s going to be a nice game for us, but also for the people on the stands,” Leeuwenburgh added.
