Former Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana defender, Bradley Carnell, was impressed by Mamelodi Sundowns' performance against Free State Stars.
Carnell was impressed by the performances of Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates in the quarter-finals of the Telkom Knockout as they had to respond to pressure, but reserved special praise for Downs’ performance.
The Brazilians thumped a Free State Stars side that went into the game on the back of a five-game unbeaten run by six goals to one and in turn extended their winning streak to five games on the trot.
Their win means that they will face SuperSport United in a Tshwane derby in the semi-finals, while the other semi-final will be a Soweto Derby between Chiefs and Pirates.
“The big guns came out to play. They responded to pressure. Orlando Pirates responded to pressure. Kaizer Chiefs responded to pressure and of course Mamelodi Sundowns gave an immense performance to respond to their own pressure as well,” Carnell told Soccer Laduma.
“It bodes well for the respective football fans of those teams. I imagine the sponsors will also be smiling at the semi-finals of that competition.”
