Parker’s Soweto Derby Pain: It’s Still Fresh

Bernard Parker says Kaizer Chiefs players are still feeling the pain of their last Soweto Derby defeat, and will go all out to fix things tomorrow.
The Glamour Boys lost 2-1 to Orlando Pirates last month as they fell behind the pace in the Absa Premiership, but they now have a chance to make up for it by reaching the Telkom Knockout semifinal.
It is the Buccaneers that go into the game with form on their side, however the cliché is that form goes out of the window on these sorts of occasions.
Parker, who has plenty of experience in these big clashes, is eager to see the Amakhosi turn things around and end their three-year trophy drought. 
Chiefs’ official website quoted him as saying, “We know what is at stake… We will go all out to get a positive result.
“You can’t compare the two matches. The one was a league clash, while this is a cup match. This is a must-win game for us.
“We have always done well in cup competitions, even though we hit a bit of a slump in recent years. But that happens to all big clubs. It’s now about how we go back to our winning ways.”
Meanwhile, when discussing Pirates and the threat they post, Parker said, “We know what to expect from our opponent and how they will come at us. We will take a lot of positives from our last game into this one.
“The good thing about this match is that we feel the pain from the loss in October. It’s still fresh in our minds. That loss will be an additional motivating factor going into the game. We want to set things right.”
