Kermit Erasmus was taken off in the latter stages against Kaizer Chiefs, but Cape Town City coach Benni McCarthy had an interesting response about the player's substitution.
The Citizens were leading 1-0 when Erasmus was withdrawn with 12 minutes left in regulation time. Chiefs secured the equaliser in the 83rd minute before going on to win the tie on penalties.
“You must ask Kermit Erasmus that because me as a coach I don’t know. Players can tell you themselves, you must ask them," McCarthy told SuperSport.
“Don’t ask me because I can’t comment on how he feels or how he don’t feels so you have to ask him when you see him."
McCarthy also had some harsh words for the referee, who handed out a total of 12 yellow cards during the Last 16 tie.
“They say coaches when you lose you complain about the referee, but it was plain to see the referees today was diabolical, you know and players could’ve been injured long term with some challenges, there were certain instances where players could’ve been injured,” he added.
