Bonginkosi Ntuli – the AmaZulu leading goalscorer – is aiming to continue with his impressive scoring form against former employers Mamelodi Sundowns in their cup match this weekend.
The Brazilians will host Usuthu in their Telkom Knockout clash at the Lucas Moripe stadium on Sunday.
Ntuli, who had been on the books of Sundowns for more than four years, has scored all of AmaZulu’s goals (four) in the Absa Premiership so far this season.
Against Cape Town City in last match before the FIFA international break, it was Ntuli’s two goals that helped the Durban-based side to a 2-1 victory as they attempt to move away from relegation zone.
“I believe that we utilized the friendly against Richards Bay over the weekend as preparation for our game against Mamelodi Sundowns in the Telkom. The mood in training is good, everyone is amped up and ready to battle it out on the field of play,” said Ntuli, as quoted on the AmaZulu’s official website.
Ntuli signed a permanent deal with AmaZulu in January, after playing for the team on two different loan spells.
“I don’t really let the fact that I’ve played for them deter me from doing what I need to do, which is to score goals, so I just take them as any other opponent. It won’t be an easy game for us because we all know that Sundowns are a big team, and we’ll be playing away so we will have to be at our best to be able to come out victorious. We all have talked and decided that we need to pledge ourselves to work hard and gain as much silverware as we can,” the 28-year-old striker concluded.
