Pitso: I Don’t Think Pirates Will Allow It…

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane again felt that Kaizer Chiefs got a helping hand from match officials in his side’s 2-0 Absa Premiership defeat on Sunday afternoon and called on the referees to improve.

‘Jingles’ then suggested his reaction to the log leaders “benefitting” from decisions taken by match officials would be mild compared to that of Amakhosi’s bitter rivals, Orlando Pirates, who they will face in the Soweto Derby over the next two weekends.

Mosimane felt Chiefs’ opening goal, scored by striker Samir Nurkovic in the first half, should have been ruled offside.

“We have to admit that they are a lot stronger this year and the influence of the coach helps because he wants to win. But Chiefs didn’t have the help from referees who make mistakes last year – it’s a fact. But is this a spiral or what? When is it going to end? This thing must stop. I want to see if referees will make mistakes against Pirates,” Mosimane said after the game.

Amakhosi host Pirates first in the Telkom Knockout quarterfinals in Durban on Saturday and the again in the league the following weekend.

“Something has to give in now. I don’t think Pirates supporters will allow it. You can’t win every game by referees mistakes. It’s enough. We have seen it before, but now it’s a series. Is this a football match or what? Excuse me.”
