Pirates Showing Interest In Chiefs Striker

A Kaizer Chiefs striker has made it on to the radar of Orlando Pirates as the January transfer window heads in to its final week.

As reported in the past week’s issue of Soccer Laduma, Chiefs have approached Leonardo Castro, offering him a new deal at the club.

The Colombian striker will see his current contract with Chiefs come to an end on June 30, this year and he is yet to agree to an extended stay at the club.

While Chiefs will be hopeful to secure his signature and see him commit to the club beyond the current season, Siya sources have informed the Siya crew that the 30-year-old has attracted interest from the other side of Soweto.

The source added that Pirates have made formal enquiries in to the availability of the striker, with indications that they are sniffing around with a view of possibly adding him to their books at the end of the season, should he be out of contract and in the position to sign on a free.

With Castro approaching his 32nd birthday, the Colombian would be adamant on cashing in on a big-money contract and it remains to be seen whether there will be a bidding war on the cards between the two Soweto giants in the coming months.
