Overall, coach Steve Komphela is satisfied that Golden Arrows, with no major signings at the start of the campaign, were pushing for a Top 8 finish before the season was halted by the spread of the Coronavirus last month.

Their 32 points haul with only seven matches remaining all but guarantees their safety in topflight football, but if the wheels come off – when the season does eventually resume – Arrows do risk missing out on that coveted MTN8 spot.
But Komphela’s report card on his first full season with the KwaZulu-Natal outfit is one in which he takes positives.
“We acquired new players at the beginning of the season, but we did not go out and make big signings,” the coach explains.
“Teams like Arrows are modest and not as aggressive in the market. That will tell you that apart from Mamelodi Sundowns, Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and maybe Bidvest Wits and SuperSport United, we should be winning the league market.”
Komphela says targeting the championship for a club with their resources and size is near impossible to achieve.
“You can’t win the league against Sundowns, not unless we are like a Leicester. Chiefs as well, they are a big threat, so are Pirates and Wits. Those are the three or four teams at the top, so we need to say can we at least find a way to break into position five? Then I will say we have done well. But that comes with belief,” he added.
