Billiat: The Energy Is Different

As Kaizer Chiefs prepare to take on Mamelodi Sundowns, star attacker Khama Billiat has revealed that Amakhosi going into this season with renewed vigour and the MTN8 provides a good opportunity for the club to start the campaign with some glory.

After finishing another season with a trophy last term, Amakhosi start the new campaign against Sundowns in the third quarterfinal of the MTN8, at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Sunday, August 15.

With a new coach at the helm in Stuart Baxter and a refreshed squad after they went in the market to acquire new players, the mood at Naturena is refreshing, according to Billiat.

“It’s so refreshing to have the guys and the energy is different. We are actually in a good space and we need to start very strong. We know Sundowns is not an easy side to play against, so we are trying by all means to get everything from the coaches right. We are feeling good and we are working towards the right goal. It’s just interesting to come to training every day. We are seeing a lot of smiles and the guys are looking sharp.”

When you come to a club like this, you want to be part of the good history, seeing yourself on the wall with pictures celebrating. I still believe that there are a lot of trophies we can go for. It’s looking good and we are still very hungry. This is a chance to start the season strong with the MTN8 and see if we are really ready for the season. But we are looking good and hopefully we will be sharp on the weekend.”

Swallows FC and Golden Arrows have already booked their spots in the semi-finals after beating Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United respectively.
