The Citizens suffered a 1-0 loss to Amakhosi in their previous Absa Premiership encounter before claiming a victory over Young Buffaloes in the CAF Confederations Cup competition.

Speaking after the game on Tuesday, McCarthy revealed that there are a few of his players who have a chance at a place in the starting line-up come Tuesday, adding that he is looking for something different compared to the Citizen’s performances against Chiefs.

“After today, Surprise Ralani is definitely in for a shout; his trickery was a breath of fresh air. His composure; now you see the European qualities are coming out of him because he was the player that really got us on the front foot and got us playing, whenever he was on the ball we looked like we were a team that was going to create something, score something, so I think he has put himself in a lucrative position there especially after the performances that most of them had against Chiefs,” McCarthy told the media.

“Too many players had an off day so I am looking for something different and a breath of fresh air and Ralani gave me that. Shane Roberts as well, young kid, this boy just seems to get better and better and he grows more, I think he is also definitely in line to get the nudge and get his starting line-up place for Saturday.

“I think the young kid, Zuki (Zukile Kewuti) was not bad, energetic, okay he lacks a bit of the football brains, the quality, but you know, the nerves…

“The younger boys have stepped up and they are giving me a bit of a headache, that do you throw so many youngsters in the deep end or do you go with experienced players that don’t really give you what you need from them and the younger players are stepping up,” he added.
