SportPesa ambassador, Doctor Khumalo gives us his insights into this weekend’s biggest matches both locally and abroad.
Highlands Park v SuperSport United
This is going to be an exciting clash between two teams who desperately need this trophy for different reasons. SuperSport lost in the MTN8 final last season and will look to rectify that while Highlands will be looking to add their name into the growing list of cup winners in the league. Based on the cup final pedigree, SuperSport obviously have an upper hand and will therefore go into this match as hot favourites. Experience usually plays a major role in games of this magnitude and it is for that reason that I’m predicting a SuperSport win.
Soccer Laduma Tip: We have to go with Doc on this one. Many people underestimate cup final pedigree and SuperSport United have more cup pedigree than most. Tembo’s men should lift the first piece of silverware this season.
Norwich City v Aston Villa (Draw)
Although I haven’t seen much of the two teams, based on my experience, Norwich aren’t an easy side to visit but I think Villa will not make it easy for them. It is for that reason I predict a draw.
Soccer Laduma Tip: We have to agree with Doc on this one. Norwich for all there excitement, have conceded far too many goals. In their last seven games in all competitions, they’ve conceded a total of 14 goals. A high scoring draw is an order.
Southampton v Chelsea
As much as Southampton will be playing at home and banking on their supporters, I don’t see them beating Chelsea at all. I will give this one to Chelsea.
Soccer Laduma Tip: We have to agree with Doc on this one. For all of Southampton’s endeavor, they do lack quality. It won’t be easy in St Mary’s for Chelsea, but the blues should have enough to claim all three points.
Inter Milan v Juventus
This is a big one! Juventus look much better than their opponents on paper, with the strong quality they have at their disposal, but I don’t see them walking all over Inter, especially in their own backyard. I think Inter will cause an upset here by surprising a lot of people who think Juve will emerge victorious after the final whistle.
Soccer Laduma Tip:This one is tricky to call. Inter have been good, and currently sit at the summit of Serie A. Juventus are second, two points behind and are yet to really hit their stride. We think this clash will end in a draw.
