SportPesa ambassador, Doctor Khumalo shares his insights into some of the biggest fixtures to be played during midweek and this weekend.
SuperSport United v AmaZulu
Even though SuperSport United lost to Polokwane City in a rather disappointing fashion, I don’t think AmaZulu will pose any serious threat to them. Having said that, Usuthu will go into this game highly motivated after their game against Kaizer Chiefs, despite the fact that they lost it, considering how everything unfolded. They also have a new coach in Jozef Vukusic. They are starting afresh and, having lost so many games, it is going to take them a while before regaining their confidence and start winning. So I give this one to the home team, SuperSport United.
Soccer Laduma Tip: We have to go with Doc on this one. After Polokwane City, Kiatano Tembo’s chargers will be looking to respond and with SuperSport United being the PSL’s top scorers, they should bounce back.
Highlands Park v Polokwane City
This will be the third time these two teams face off so far this season after the two-legged MTN8 semi-final. City are good travellers while Highlands have made Makhulong stadium their fortress. Based on these two fact and knowing how much coach Owen da Gama’s teams focus on their structure, I think the two teams will be out to cancel each other and therefore play to a draw.
Soccer Laduma Tip: We have to agree with Doc on this one. We should also bear in mind that Highlands Park are in the MTN8 final and Coach de Gama will want his team to be as fit as possible. This match will be highly tactical, but will end in a stalemate.
Black Leopards v Bloemfontein Celtic
Leopards haven’t started the season well at all. They will be happy with the point they got away from Stellenbosch last weekend although a win would go a long way in restoring their confidence. They seriously have a mountain to climb in their attempts to get their season on track. I will give this one to Celtic because, on paper and in terms of form, they are undoubtedly the better side.
Soccer Laduma Tip: We have to agree with Doc on this one. With the coaching issues surrounding Black Leopards and a lack of early-season form, Celtic will look to pounce in Limpopo and with the likes of Mabena leading the line, they should claim victory.
Manchester United v Arsenal
Man United have to win this game. We need it more than Arsenal and the fact that we are playing at home makes it even more necessary for us to win. Man United win, I feel.
Soccer Laduma Tip: We have to disagree with Doc on this one. Although Arsenal have been poor defensively, they have bags of goals within their strike force with the likes of Aubamayang and Pepe. Manchester United look fragile and short on goals. The Gunners will take this one, purely because they will score more goals.
