SportPesa Clubhouse column ambassador, Doctor Khumalo, shared his views on Bafana Bafana’s new head coach, Molefe Ntseki. The Amakhosi legend was greatly concerned with the way the public has almost dismissed Ntseki, before he’s been given a fair crack at the whip.
“I find that very disturbing because the same people will lament the fact that the locals are not given a chance and when the chance is given, they then turn against their own. I’m not saying people shouldn’t criticise, but it should be based on facts and results. All the coaches that seem to have been preferred by some are engaged with their respective teams. Are you telling me those are the only people who deserve to coach our national team?

“Can’t we try something new and give someone else a chance? Isn’t that what development and widening our scope is all about? Yes, Ntseki didn’t play at the bigger stage and hasn’t coached in the Absa Premiership, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t deserve this opportunity. We have coaches who never played at the highest level but are counted among the best coaches ever. They were given a chance and they proved their worth, otherwise they’d probably not even be considered for those opportunities if we used some people’s logic.

“SAFA also have their own criteria and wouldn’t just throw such a big opportunity at someone not deserving. They’ve done their homework, so let’s please be responsible and rationale. That’s my humble plea to everyone out there. Like I said, as Ntseki’s colleagues we know what he’s capable of and people will see for themselves. Just give him a chance, that’s all. He can make it only if we support him. He’s getting this chance is a motivation to all of us” added Khumalo.
