This weekend, Manchester will be divided as the blue and red sides of the city will all march to Etihad Stadium as Manchester City host Manchester United in a league derby match. Going into a game of this calibre form goes out of the window as not only three points are on the table, but bragging rights are the order of the day.
SportPesa ambassador Doctor Khumalo gets in on the action that will take place with the following encounters and gives us his predictions. Do you agree with ‘16V’?
Atletico Madrid v Athletic Bilbao (Madrid win)
Atletico is not an easy team to play at home but something happened that I never thought I would be talking about. They’re also one of the teams that are blowing hot and cold. You can’t fault them because the Spanish league has become really unpredictable. It is never easy to predict the outcome and I really don’t know why is it that all the travelling teams tend to struggle away from home. The home teams seem to be making more use of their home advantage now than in the past. Madrid used to have a good defensive record but they don’t seem to have that anymore. Having said that, playing at home, they will have an upper hand and win.
Borrusia Dortmund v Bayern Munich (Draw)
This is going to be a very tricky encounter. If history is anything to go by, I would say Bayern will have an easy win but that’s not the case anymore. Dortmund at home, with their 12th man, are never an easy side to visit. They’re a very stubborn team especially in front of their vociferous supporters. Dortmund seem to have found their groove that seemed lost after Jürgen Klopp left them for Liverpool. It is not going to be easy for Bayern so I predict a draw.
Manchester City v Manchester United (City win)
Everyone can see that Man City are on fire! If given a chance, they don’t shy away from scoring five goals against you. They punish almost every mistake you make and create enough chances to win. I would like to see Man United pull it off but the way City have been so unbelievable, especially at home, it is scary. I’m a Man United supporter but I have to give this one to City.
AC Milan v Juventus (Milan win)
Juventus are doing very well but I have to differ a little bit on this one. I’m going to surprise a lot of people and just predict a Milan win. I know a lot of people will be shocked but something tells me I’m right. Milan haven’t been enjoying the same results as Juventus but I believe this might be their turning point. Juve are on form, they’re on fire but Milan need no better motivation that coming up against Juve right now. Teams, sometimes, go through a rough patch and it takes that one game to change their fortunes and I believe this could just be that game for Milan.
