The international break has come once again and about to hit our screens as we get behind our favourite countries. On the African continent, the qualifiers for next year’s AFCON tournament gets underway, while the friendlies in Europe will have supporters on the edge of their seats as there are some interesting matches lined up.
SportPesa ambassador, Doctor Khumalo has picked his winners for the matches below! Do you agree with the Bafana Bafana legend?
Wales v Spain (Spain win)
Spain should win this one. They beat England in their own backyard and are looking to rejuvenate their team and find their footing after some disappointing results. They seem to be getting their act together and I don’t see them struggling against Wales, with all due respect to the Welsh.
France v Iceland (Iceland win)
Iceland is a very tough team to play because of the disciplined tactical approach in their game. Against all odds, they gave a lot of teams a tough time at the recent 2018 FIFA World Cup. I also don’t think France will play a full-strength squad for various reasons. In fact, regardless of the team, they will use, France will have a tough time against Iceland. With international friendlies, some players tend to hold back a bit and I think Iceland will spring a surprise and win this one.
Belgium v Switzerland (Belgium win)
Belgium had a fantastic World Cup and I was really hoping they’d reach the final, at least, but it wasn’t to be. Because they’ve not changed much in their team and the technical personnel, I give them a win against Switzerland.
Netherlands v Germany (Germany win)
I honestly don’t see Netherlands stopping the Germans. It is that simple.
