SportPesa ambassador, Doctor Khumalo, explains why he thinks that the international friendly between USA and Brazil will end in a draw, and sees a Mexico victory in their encounter against Uruguay.
Do you agree with ‘16V’s’ picks this week?
USA v Brazil (Draw)
I can probably say it is going to be a draw, with the USA team having missed out on the Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup, they will definitely be looking to redeem themselves. I think that’s why they opted for a big team like Brazil to play this game. I think they’re also in a rebuilding phase, so they’re not going to make things easy for Brazil.
Slovakia v Denmark (Denmark win)
I expect Denmark to record a win, if only they show the same consistency as they did at the World Cup. Obviously, their squad has unbelievable players, but it was just unfortunate that they were eliminated out of the World Cup so early. Having said that, they had a very strong squad. If things go according to who has the best team of the two, I think Denmark will win.
Portugal v Croatia (Draw)
I’d go for a draw on this one and if the body language of the Portuguese team, after their World Cup elimination is anything to go by, I don’t think they will be mentally or psychologically prepared to take the international football scene by a storm. They were very disappointed and I think a draw will be a fair result for them against Croatia, although it is not going to be easy because they’re coming up against one of the best teams at the World Cup.
Mexico v Uruguay (Mexico win)
I expect Mexico to have an upper hand in this one because I’m not sure if Uruguay will have a full-strength team for this encounter. Because these international friendlies, most teams are in a rebuilding phase especially those who were at the World Cup. We might see new faces with a number of big-name players not taking part, especially at this stage of the club football season.
