This week, SportPesa ambassador, Doctor Khumalo shared his views on the topic of having playing styles in the local teams.
As the Bafana Bafana international continued to voice his opinion on this, he pointed out that teams don’t just enforce a playing style without proper analysis on the of the team.
Check out Doc Khumalo’s SportPesa Betting tips for this week
“It is very important for people to understand that you don’t just enforce your playing style without doing a proper analysis of the team. You’ve got to take what you have in stock into consideration before you can think of introducing a playing style because what you have will determine whether you can implement your style of play.
“Let me use the 2018 FIFA World Cup game between Argentina and Iceland as an example of my point. The Icelanders had a re-enforced defence and playing on the counter. The reason for that was simply because they don’t have much of individual brilliance in them.
“They don’t have a ‘Messi’, ‘Ronaldo’, ‘Shabba’, ‘Mshishi’ or ‘Thabo Nodada’ who can change the game for them going forward. They played to their strength and frustrated Argentina by working so hard to close them down and catch them on the counter. That’s their playing style and the fact that the game ended 1-all was no fluke.”
