Doc On How The Ndoro Saga Could’ve Been Avoided…
This week, SportPesa together with Soccer Laduma sat down with the legendary Doctor Khumalo in his weekly column. Khumalo touched on the recent Nedbank Cup final between Maritzburg United and he also shared his views on the Ajax Cape Town-Tendai Ndoro saga.
As the season has officially come to an end after the last title (Nedbank Cup) was won by Free State Stars on Saturday, May 19, Doc spoke out about Ea Lla Koto’s achievement.
“Let me congratulate coach Luc Eymael, his technical team, players, management, supporters and everyone associated with Free State Stars for winning the Nedbank Cup.
“This is a big achievement for the club, especially after so many years without any silverware.”
Despite Stars grabbing the headlines this past weekend, last week was a rough one for Ajax Cape Town who had been eliminated from the promotion/ relegation play-offs due to fielding an ineligible player in striker Tendai Ndoro, which has resulted in the team being relegated from the top flight. However, the Urban Warriors are still fighting the battle in court.
“The unfortunate part is that this whole saga could have been avoided from the onset, but when a ruling was made that the player was eligible to play, his team had to conform, only to be punished for that.
“We obviously, don’t have all the nitty-gritty and I hope this is not going to spoil the great job that the PSL has been doing over the years.”
