Doc Khumalo: There Are Two Types Of Scouts…

By Soccer Laduma - Jun 15, 2018 11:45 AM

The FIFA World Cup kicked off on Thursday, June 14, and the hosts Russia celebrated with a 5-0 victory over Saudi Arabia.

SportPesa ambassador, Doctor Khumalo, has shared his opinion on this year’s global event as he points out that there are many factors that need to be taken into consideration behind the scenes.

“When you participate in a tournament like this, you need people that will scout and analyse the opposition for you. There are two types of scouts – those who will be looking for talent and those scouting tactically. For the World Cup you will be scouting more tactically and that’s where you know what to expect from the opposition.

“Video analysis is very important in the modern game and science has taken over, so you have to keep up with the current trends. The principles of training also need to be applied correctly and there’s so much going on behind the scenes that people don’t know about. The backroom staff are some of the most underrated hard-working people in this game.”

In this week’s edition of Soccer Laduma, issue 1077, the Bafana Bafana legend gives his predictions for the remainder of the weekend fixtures.
