SportPesa together with Soccer Laduma sat down with the legendary midfielder and current Technical Director at Baroka FC, Doctor Khumalo in his weekly column.

The former Kaizer Chiefs player spoke extensively on the match between Mamelodi Sundowns and Spanish giants FC Barcelona that is set to take place tonight, May 16 at 18h15. The clash has grabbed the attention of those in the footballing community as the likes of Lionel Messi and Andres Iniesta have touched down in South Africa for the match.

Khumalo spoke about the excitement of this match coming to our shores.

“It is a great deal for South African football to host Barcelona, once more, on our shores because these are the Spanish Champions who will be locking horns against their South African counterparts.

As he continued, he went on to mention that in future, he hopes that more of these encounters will be taking place just like how it used to be in the past.

“There is so much in this game and it would be really great to have more of these games like we used to do in the past.

“We had Manchester United, Liverpool, Crystal Palace, Tottenham Hotspur and others coming to play here and if you look at the standard of our football then, it was higher.”

‘16v’ also touches on the recent promotion play-off’s as well as his current situation at Baroka.
