As reported in the latest Soccer Laduma newspaper, edition 1075, Chiefs are believed to have set their sights on Tshepo Gumede’s situation at City, with the Soweto giants said to be contemplating on adding him to their roster, should the defender be available for a move during the off-season.
Following his lack of game-time under coach Benni McCarthy at the Mother City outfit, Gumede is expected to leave the club at the end of the season.
The player’s two-year contract with City, which he signed when he arrived at the club from Orlando Pirates in 2016, is set to expire at the end of June.
Although the Citizens have a one-year option to extend the 27-year-old player’s deal, the Cape side has not yet exercised the option on him.

As part of their plans to reinforce their squad for next season, Chiefs are believed to be interested in looking at Gumede as a possible addition to their roster for the new season.
“There is interest from Chiefs in the player. But it’s still early to say if he will be joining them or not at this moment,” said the source.
Gumede made only eight Absa Premiership starts for City this past season.
