PSL Giants Consider Move For R5m City Star
Craig Martin Is Being Monitored By Orlando Pirates And Mamelodi Sundowns
Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates are thought to be weighing up a potential move for one of Cape Town City’s sought-after players, but do they need him?
Craig Martin, who is 24, did well for Benni McCarthy last season as he played 24 games for the Citizens last season, prompting the club to reportedly put a R5m price tag on his head, but that doesn’t appear to have stopped Sundowns and Pirates keeping tabs on him.
The talented winger raised a few eyebrows with his performances in the Absa Premiership last season, and it will come as no surprise that he has attracted interest from Gauteng, although he may be wary of a move at this point.
Sundowns currently have the likes of Aubrey Ngoma, George Lebese, Toni Silva and Gaston Sirino on their books that play on the wings, while Pirates have players such as Augustine Mulenga, Kudakwashe Mahachi, Amigo Memela, Vincent Pule and Thabo Qalinge among others. Martin will be eager to keep up his progression as a footballer, and will no doubt know the importance of playing regular first team football.
That being said, Siya sources have revealed that Masandawana and the Buccaneers have put some feelers out with regards to whether he would be available to purchase, though it does seem unlikely that City would be eager to sell one of their brightest young players – especially following the recent exit of Lyle Lakay to Chloorkop.
The crew will continue to monitor Martin’s situation as next month’s transfer deadline day approaches.
