City Part Ways With Duo, Chiefs Move On The Cards For Defender?
Cape Town City Part Ways With Tshepo Gumede And Vincent Kobola
Cape Town City have parted ways with two of their players, with one defender currently linked with a move to Kaizer Chiefs.
It has been confirmed to the crew that the Citizens have come to an agreement to release both Tshepo Gumede and Vincent Kobola.
The duos contract with the Citizens is set to come to an end on June 30, this year, with City having an added one-year option placed on Gumede’s deal.
However, it has since been revealed that the club has opted against exercising the option, while the club has also ended talks with Kobola about a possible extension.
The duo is set to leave the club on June 30, as they look to find a new football home.
As reported in this week’s edition of Soccer Laduma, Chiefs are believed to be assessing the possibility of adding Gumede to their books, as they prepare to revamp their squad for the new 2018/19 campaign.
Gumede struggled for game-time under the mentorship of Head Coach Benni McCarthy at City, although, with the departure of Robyn Johannes, at the time it was thought that the Citizens may look to hold on to the player.
However, it has since been confirmed that Gumede will depart the club, while City are currently being linked with an Ivorian centre-back, with the club expected to conclude a deal for the player in the coming weeks.
With Kobola and Gumede set to depart the club, it could officially be the end of an era for City, having recently lost the services of the likes Johannes, Aubrey Ngoma, Lehlohonolo Majoro and Lebogang Manyama who were crucial in their cup winning 2016/17 campaign.
