Cape Town City have extended the stay of one of their midfield players, keeping the player at the club beyond the current 2017/18 campaign.
The Siya crew reported in the past that City were keen on holding on to the services of Teko Modise, after the player proved influential this season for the Citizens.
It has since been confirmed to the crew that City exercised the added one-year option on Modise’s deal, keeping him at the club until, at least, the end of the 2018/19 campaign.
“I can confirm that the future of Teko Modise is with Cape Town City. A few months ago, in fact, I renewed Teko’s contract, which had an option for one extra year and we didn’t hesitate or wait till the last minute,” chairman John Comitis told the Siya crew.
Sources have also revealed to the crew that the Mother City-based club is looking at exercising the added one-year option on Tshepo Gumede’s deal, with the centre back’s deal set to come to an end on June 30 this year. Indications are that the Citizens want to hold on to the defender’s services following Robyn Johannes’ exit.
