CT City Net Late Winner In Swaziland

CAF Confederation Cup
Result: Young Buffaloes 0-1 Cape Town City
Date: 10 February 2018
Venue: Somhlolo National Stadium
Cape Town City struck late in the second half to secure a 1-0 win over Young Buffaloes, in the first leg of their CAF Confederation Cup preliminary tie.
Benni McCarthy handed a debut to Shane Roberts, who was recently promoted to the senior side.
This was City's debut campaign in a continental competition, after they finished third in the 2016-2017 Absa Premiership season.
The changes did not pay dividends going forward, as the Citizens failed to break the deadlock in the opening 45 minutes.
The second stanza started in the same fashion as the first, with neither side threatening.
However, with five minutes remaining in the half, City found the winning goal through Nana Akosah-Bempah.
City managed to see out the closing stages to claim a vital away win ahead of next week's second leg.
Here's how they lined up:
City: 1. Walters, 4. Kobola, 3. Mngonyama, 27. Gumede, 6. Seedat, 16. Johannes, 29. Roberts, 21. Ralani, 24. Masina, 14. Nana, 20. Moseamedi
Subs: 15. Stephens, 5. Edmilson, 2. Mkhize, 12. Fielies, 28. Kewuti, 10. Patosi, 7. Lakay.
