Benni McCarthy is adamant about who he thinks should be crowned the goalkeeper of the season, despite having just six clean sheets.
Cape Town City are currently the highest scoring club in the Absa Premiership, however, they have not been too convincing in defence, having conceded 28 goals so far in the league campaign.

However, McCarthy insists that his Dutch shot-stopper, Peter Leeuwenburgh should be considered as the goalkeeper of the season, joking that he does not make any blunders like the likes of Virgil Vries and Daniel Akpeyi at Kaizer Chiefs.
“When you have the giraffe in goal, he makes wonder saves, so for me, as much as he has conceded quite a bit of goals, he has been the best goalkeeper in the league,” McCarthy said.
“He never made a mistake (and) he never made a blunder. Chiefs are good at blunders and everyone else, but our goalkeeper is solid as a rock, so for me, goalkeeper of the season has to go to him,” he added.
